Space Shuttle Landing
2009 July 6
About an hour northeast of us, is Edwards Air Force Base. On two occasions over our year here, NASA’s space shuttles have landed out here. We managed to get ourselves out there the first time, just in time to catch the shuttle coasting along the runway. The guard on duty, wasn’t sure which direction the shuttle was going to approach from and had the audience looking 90 degrees to the east. We turned in time to see the shuttle coasting along the runway after having just landed. Look very carefully at these photos and you’ll spy it, and the curling smoke and dust cloud from its touchdown.
